Campus Huilhi First Anniversary

Campus Huilhi celebrated its First Anniversary cum CH Oopsy Rosy Awards 2011 on Oct. 15, 2011 at FSA Office, now ISA (International Students Association), Teflas JNU at 17:00 hrs IST (Indian Stretch-able Time) with all pomp and show within CH grasp. As it was strictly imposed, via various CH media agencies, a day earlier, CH celebs were seen adhering to the imposition by wearing CH designer evening gown and dressing up for the occasion much to the pleasure of the frenzy fans and paparazzis thronging the venue an hour earlier before the scheduled time. G4 security had a tumultuous task maintaining peace and order within 3 km radius of the venue.

The gala event was hosted by CH Editorial Board-Pu Kempth Shaii, Pu Thanggoulien and Pu Nehtinthang Haokip and the exclusive V.V.I.P. guests included prominent people from all walks of life, ranging from world renowned poets to socialites, few amongst them were Shri Paothang f/o Christina Nemlalchawi, Bebem Khongsai sis/o Thanggoulien, Amin Haokip, Letminlun Haokip and Nuom Haokip-ace photographer with The Times of CH.

The glittering ceremony commenced with the Lighting of Diya by Pu L. Letkhomang Haokip, founder Campus Huilhi. Unfortunately, he was reported to have burnt his finger accidentally while lighting but those seated in the front row heaved a sigh of relief on knowing that 'it was nothing serious'. Mentioned may be made here that CH-'Medicin Sans Frontier' (Doctors without Border) were put on standby in case someone in the crowd get a stroke as emotions were invariably high during such CH event.

It was then followed by CH protégé Ng. Kimrose Vaiphei's soulful rendition of CH Anthem "Campus Huilhi'n inung khom ui" all the people gathered were seen standing in "savdhan" position, with bated breath and misty eyed. One of CH celebs, Christina was quoted as saying "Without my knowledge, tears were building up in my eyes. It was very emotional, especially, for someone like me who had already left the campus".

Pu Thanggoulien a.k.a CH Rajinikanth, in a matter of secs afterward, enthralled the crowd with his hard hitting presentation on CH-Through the Ages and thanked its partners in India and abroad through thick and thin, trials and temptations. Pu Nehtinthang then, spoke at length about CH-Problems and Challenges Ahead and requested all its shareholders to continue investing in CH. Pu Kempth Shaii joined the bandwagon by unleashing his quirky jokes and banter, charming all the ladies present 'in the house', he also thanked the Jury members of CH Oopsy Rosy Award 2011 for their unbiased and impartial decisions.

"All said and (now) dance" thundered Kempth at the end of his speech and requested CH StepUp choreographer Ng. Cecilia to take centre stage. She jumped at the offer, with both hands, "but on one condition" she said. The condition was Kempth and Thang had to shake their stiff leg with her. The Editor-duo was taken aback but they took up the challenge. Their impromptu jig set the stage on fire even the V.V.I.P guests were seen jiving and waving their hands, to the dance steps. However, after the program, Thanggoulien was upset for not being called out to show his dancing skills. However, it was learnt that, it was said in a lighter vein and all was well.

CH was and is never short of talents and this claim was fomented by the deadly duo, going by the stage name CH Rockstar, Tong and John, they were a threat to many rock-bands in India and elsewhere abroad and had amassed a large fan following not only in India and abroad but also in the jungles of JNU among the comrades. Despite the news of lofty offers knocking at their door every now and then from various Music Company and Recording Studio they stick to CH. Then, P.P. Bus band-Aalhing and Min soothed the audience by their all time hit song "P.P. Bus". The crowds outside made their peace with the security guards when they heard their melodious song. After they put down their guitar the audience, both inside and outside, were heard chanting "Once more" but due to time constraint Program Co-ordinator and Event Management manager had to decline.

After that, the audience were taken by a big surprise with the announcement of CH Oopsy Rosy Award and then , one by one, each CH celeb along with the hand-picked guest were called upon the stage, walking, hand in hand together, to announce the winner and give away the respective award. At the word of mouth "Can we have the nominations, please?" from CH celeb, accompanying the guest, a projector animated the screen with video clips of the contenders. The winners were announced by the guest amid thunderous applause within and the blaring whistles from outside. Shri Paothang in his husky bari-tone pronounced "Al...fonsa" who was the winner of 'Social Network-lite''. The Times of CH, in its morning edition, the following day listed that as CH- 'Kodak Moment of The Night' with the following words- “it will be forever remembered in the days to come”.

The Awards were instituted by CH in collaboration with its founder and were given in over 27 categories to honor (ridicule at the same time) members of CH family in their untiring, self-less effort in staying afloat, in the limelight and through public scrutiny. The winners in each category were awarded 'Midas-fork' trophy, which was the first of its kind in the history of Award Ceremony in the world.
